Make Use of Your Blender

Isn't it funny how men never seem to have much in the way of cooking utensils?
Men still need to eat the same as women but rarely will you find a good variety of cooking utensils in their kitchens. Some men will even be without the basics like a can opener or a pot large enough for pasta!
One thing no-one should be without is a blender. It can be made use of in many ways and for many things in the kitchen. You single men out there just think how delighted the ladies will be when you're able to concoct cocktails when you invite her over for the evening. Lots of women love these fruity types of alcoholic beverages.
Pushed for time or in a hurry? Blenders are brilliant for using to make quick and easy meals. And with very little time spent actually cooking! The healthy fast food. Make a little extra so you've got some left over which you can use up next day for lunch or dinner.
Below are some quick and easy recipes to be made in your blender.
The Virgin Club Med Breeze
350 - 400 ml of strawberry yoghurt
Half a cupful of skimmed milk
1 banana sliced
2 tsp of lemon juice
2 tsp of grenadine
2 scoops of protein powder (optional)
A favourite drink of the ladies. A few glasses of this will give you a nice kick and leave you feeling nice and relaxed for a great evening in. Possibly leave out the protein powder if making for the ladies.
Gazpacho
2 ripe tomatoes cut into chunks
Half a cupful of chopped parsley or coriander
2 tbsp of breadcrumbs
1 sliced avocado
3 tbsp of lemon juice
3 finely chopped garlic cloves
1 cupful of tomato juice
1 cupful of ice cold water
2 tsp of chilli sauce or Tabasco
Salt, pepper and/or some dried herbs to taste.
Easy to make this one. Just put all ingredients into the blender at once and switch on. Tastes great. If you like hot and spicy foods you may wish to add more hot sauces or even add some crushed red pepper after its blended.
Another great use for your blender is making pesto. Everyone has their own favourite way of making it so look up some recipes on Google or your preferred search engine.
A word of warning though - some recipes use a lot of oil. There's no need for it so try to avoid it. If you're using pine nuts try and use ones which are dry roasted. Definitely don't use the deep fried kind!
Deserts are another item to try making in the blender. Have a go at this one.
2 cupfuls of ice cream
2 handfuls of strawberries
Half a banana
A little chocolate syrup.
Mix in the blender and in the last pulse add in some walnuts. Don't let them get chopped too fine you want them to keep some crunchy texture. Serve on its own in a bowl or as an accompaniment with a slice of low fat cake. Tastes great with chocolate cake. Make a simple sponge cake without any icing and add the ice cream instead. Add some whole walnuts on top. Delicious!
