Hi-Protein Banana-Berry Frozen Mousse
protein, frozen, jean
I absolutely love to 'disguise' foods that many people find unacceptable. In the following recipe, lumpy cottage cheese is transformed into a delicious, high-protein dessert! Cottage cheese is beneficial to a healthy diet for a variety of reasons.
The protein and essential amino acid contents of cottage cheese are both high. Protein is used in the body to make not only muscle, but hormones, vitamin carriers, and countless other materials! Furthermore, essential amino acids are the protein building blocks that our body cannot make by itself, so we must get them from the diet. A meal is most complete when it contains all of the essential amino acids, and cottage cheese, and other forms of dairy, contain essential amino acids in high amounts.
In addition, the essential branched-chain amino acids, and the amino acid leucine in particular, are essential to fuel working muscle and also provide important muscle-building signals to the active muscle cells. Luckily, dairy products are a good natural source of leucine. This whipped berry treat is extra-tasty; your guests will never suspect that is is healthy or be able to identify your secret- muscle-building ingredient!
